The Most Complete Set of Issues That I Have Seen
A Unique Historical Perspective

  • Traces the history of Modern Collectible Vintage Instruments.

  • Interviews with the Legends and Creators of the classic instruments.

  • Issues that are crammed full with photos, articles, interviews and detailed information on guitars, amps, effects, and the Artists who made them famous.

  • Information that cannot be found anywhere else.

The Collection begins with "The Original" Sept 1986 Issue: Volume 1 - Issue 1
The magazine was originally titled: THE MUSIC TRADER.  It began as a regional newspaper in Bismarck, North Dakota and was only distributed within four states.
It was a mere 8 pages...and sold for 25 Cents!  By the third issue it became a free publication with as few as 4 pages.  Each new issue grew in size, but still, was only locally distributed.  In 1987 mail order subscriptions became available for $7 per year.

In March 1988 the paper was retitled: THE NATIONAL MUSIC TRADER.
Yearly subscriptions were available for $10.00.  On the Sept 1989 cover, there was an apparent publishing error.  The September issue should have been titled Vol 4 - Issue 1.
It, instead, was titled Vol 3 - Issue 1.  It appears that this error continued into mid 1990.

In early 1990 the paper was again retitled: VINTAGE GUITAR.  It began to take on a more professional look, and was 24 pages.  Yearly subscription cost was $12.95.

In June 1992 the paper was finally retitled as: VINTAGE GUITAR MAGAZINE.
The logos underwent a couple more changes and color covers began with July 1993.
