We
repair and service all standard types of guitar and bass amps, as well as
all types of power amps, powered mixers, P.A.'s and more.
Average
turnaround time for basic repairs is 3 to 7 days, depending on how many
other items may be here...and whether any schematics or special parts need
to be ordered.
We
also repair various late 60's and early 70's types of EFX pedals on a
limited basis...Vox and Cry Baby Wahs are one of our specialties.
We do
not normally do Guitar Repair...but will accept certain electronic or wiring
projects, when there is no routing or woodworking required.
Pedal
EFX & Guitar Electronics services are billed at our standard shop rate.
Each
unit is thoroughly checked and tested...not only for the original repair
problem, but for all basic functions. If we encounter any other
problems, we will let you know what additional repairs might be needed.
Some
shops perform repairs, and then Electronic Scope Test the unit FOR
WAVEFORM ONLY when the repair is finished. Many of the techs are not
actual players, and there may not even be a test instrument at the shop.
This results in amps that are being returned to customers with problems and
noises that the Scope could not hear...and customers who have to constantly
return with the same problem, over and over.
We also ...ELECTRONICALLY SCOPE
TEST... the unit for proper operation

But
then
WE ACTUALLY PLAY AND TEST AND LISTEN
to make sure that nothing has been overlooked and that the amp is problem
free. With 35 years of guitar playing experience, playing and
listening is my final test to insure that the problems have been
solved...and that the sound is exactly what it should be.
In the
past 25 years, and with many thousands of repairs, we have had less than a
dozen returns...those, mostly due to failure of a new tube.
After
25+ years we have...played...owned...and repaired...most models of musical
equipment manufactured from the 1950's to
present.
We are
Extremely Familiar with all eras of USA and UK tube amplifiers, and most
eras of American and European made solid-state units.
Whether
it is a classic tube model Fender, Marshall, Ampeg or Gibson ...or a neat
old solid- state Vox, Kustom, Acoustic, or Peavey...we can repair it.
We
have been designing Modifications and Custom Circuits for Fender, Marshall
and other tube amps, since the mid-70's. We have had all types of mods
by other people come through our shop over the past 25 years, as well as
many of the newer Boutique amplifiers made within the last 10-15 years.
Many
shops do not have the expertise, and refuse to work on these models.
We
have serviced and repaired many of these custom circuits...this has become
another of our specialties. If you are having repair problems with
your custom modified design or Boutique style amplifier...we can repair it.
It is
not necessary for us to disassemble your amp to estimate repair costs.
With so many years of experience, we will have a fair idea of what the
problems and repair cost might be... ...just by listening and playing.
-
You
may simply call us for a free accurate estimate of your repair cost. The
more information that you can provide, as to what the problem is and how
it occurred, the better idea we will have of the problem and the repair
cost.
As
with any estimate, we have no way of knowing the exact final cost.
Most final costs will be very close to the original repair estimate. We will
contact you if there are any major changes to the original estimate.
-
We
do not disassemble units and perform exacting repair estimates for free.
-
We
have a minimum bench fee for any item checked in.
-
We
do not perform circuit diagnosis as part of a minimum bench fee
"paid estimate of repair costs".
-
We
are not here to teach, or provide free technical assistance to guide you
in DIY repair procedures. Those questions should be directed to
the original manufacturer, or to a qualified electronics instructor.
